VINET Domaine de la Quilla-Bottleshot_47

Bourgogne Blanc "Jean de la Vigne"

Bourgogne Blanc AOC

Chardonnay

This small parcel is just south of Fuissé in the village of Leynes. A Bourgogne wine that punches well above its weight and price point, it is a high quality Chardonnay at an exceptional value. With fruity flavors of peach, cherry plum, orange zest, and Mediterranean herbs, the palate is medium bodied, finely structured, with a dusty minerality and a youthful, lengthy finish.

POINTS OF INTEREST

With nearly 100 different parcels, spread over 30 hectares in 8 villages, the Cordier wines represent the diversity found in the Mâcon region. On these limestone soils, Cordier vinifies each of these parcels into wines that express the nuance of terroir with precision and clarity. Viré-Clessé "Vieilles Vignes"

Viré-Clessé AOC

Chardonnay

With a meticulous grape selection from organically farmed vineyards the old vines of Viré-Clessé produce a bone-dry wine with beautiful fruits and flowers, like apple blossom, acacia and honeysuckle. The palate is balanced with a fine line of acidity and flavors of quince and mango lining the rich but laser focused finish.

Saint-Véran "En Faux"

Saint-Véran AOC

Chardonnay

From a vineyard of one and a half hectares comes a Chardonnay with presence and personality. Low yields in the vineyard produce expressive aromas of toasted almond integrating nicely with fruit aromas of peach, apricot, apple, and cooking spice. On the palate there is a touch of butter with an underlying minerality and freshness.

POINTS OF INTEREST

At Domaine Cordier they know that a great quality wine always starts with outstanding fruit. For this reason, they focus on organic and biodynamic farming practices and drastically reduce yields. A leader in the region, they showcase the terroir and potential of the Mâcon region by vinifying many of their wines into separate bottlings of just a few hundred bottles.

Milly-Lamartine "Clos du Four"

Mâcon, Milly-Lamartine AOC

Chardonnay

Hometown to the poet Alphonse de Lamartine, we would like to think that the textures and flavors of this wine are poetic as well. Floral aromas express honeysuckle and spice with structured lemon curd, stone, and orchard fruits. The palate is lush and round with hints of oak and vanilla with a melodious finish.

POINTS OF INTEREST

The Lieu-Dit of "Clos du Four" is split between Domaine Cordier and Domaine Comtes Lafon. The two great producers in the Mâcon region. This walled, high elevation vineyard, has very old vines producing a wine of immense pleasure. The Mâcon region is largely dominated by co-ops and simple wines but small grower producers like Cordier are showing the region at its best.

Pouilly-Fuissé "Vieilles Vignes"

Pouilly-Fuissé AOC

Chardonnay

Based in the town of Fuissé, Domaine Cordier has excelled in producing some of the finest examples of Chardonnay in the Mâcon region. Old-vines in both Fuissé and Vergisson, produce a fruit driven style with meyer lemon, nectarine, and orchard fruits. On the palate, a chalky minerality with delicate oak and butter notes is balanced by a vivacious energy and freshness.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Combining a traditional style with the best of technology, the Domaine completed a completely gravity fed winery in 2012. The grapes are farmed according to organic and biodynamic principles, vinified with indigenous yeast, and aged extendedly with the fine lees in barrels. Christophe puts a lot of time and thought into the selection, toasting, and size of each barrel used for his wines.
