“3210” Extra Brut

Champagne, Blanc de Blancs, NV

Chardonnay

Precision and focus are two words that come to mind after tasting 3210. Persistent and lively bubbles express aromatics of toasted pastry, lime, and fresh cut flowers, from 100% Chardonnay. The palate exposes supple stone fruits and lemon curd with a lengthy, refreshing finish. This wine stands out as a transparent expression of the Champagne terroir of the Côtes des Blancs.

POINTS OF INTEREST

The name says it all; 3 years on the lees before disgorgement, 2 terroirs in the Côte des Blancs (one in the village of Montgueux prized for the ripeness, and the other is the famous Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger) 1 grape variety, Chardonnay, and 0 dosage added. The balance created between these two villages is a match made in Champagne heaven. An extra brut style that delivers.

“TER” Blanc Brut

Champagne, Blanc de Blancs, NV

Chardonnay

With five years on the lees you find both depth and precision in "Ter Blanc." The perlage is refined and abundant with a persistent mousse. The elegant aromatics are alive with nuts, citrus, and white flowers and on the palate there is a chalky sapidity. the expressive finish is true to the mineral rich terroir of the region, from three vineyard sites in the Côte des Blanc; two Grand Cru, one Premier Cru.

POINTS OF INTEREST

One of the newest cuvées from the Gonet family, these "Ter" wines highlight the soil, terroir, and the HVE sustainable farming practices at the Gonet family estate. For too long the major Champagne houses prized consistency over terroir expression. While technically registered as a negociant, Gonet is part of the "Grower Champagne" revolution showcasing the vinous character of Champagne from their vineyards.

33% Pinot Meunier

With equal parts, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, each from a distinct vineyard, the careful selection and blending by Pierre is seamless in execution.

POINTS OF INTEREST

These "Ter" wines represent an exciting new chapter in a long family history, starting in 1830. The bottle shape was inspired by the 18th century bottles found in the cellar. Pierre and Chantal Gonet (brother and sister) are the 7th generation to make wine at Champagne Gonet. What makes each of these wines so distinct is the thought and precision that goes into executing the blend of each grape and parcel.

Grand Cru Millésime

Champagne, Blanc de Blancs, Brut

Chardonnay

Many believe that 7 years of lees aging for a Champagne offers up the pinnacle of complexity and nuance. This wine is no exception to that idea. Exceptional dimension with lingering flavors of orchard fruits and lemon meringue, buttery brioche, and smoked hazelnut. As this vintage wine opens, it becomes more powerful, the complex textures and flavors unravel, rewarding the patient.

POINTS OF INTEREST

When making a wine with nature you have to adapt to the season. Many of the large houses had difficulty in 2011, but Gonet struck gold with the Grand Cru vineyards in the Côtes des Blancs. The lack of water in the early months allowed these older vines to concentrate their attention on a smaller number of clusters for more developed fruit. The Chardonnay grapes did much better than the red grapes in this vintage.

Grand Cru Villages Le Mesnil-sur-Oger

Chardonnay

Named in Honor of Louis XIV (The Sun King) this cuvee was first produced in 2003. Grand Cru vineyards exclusively from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Pair with the finer things: lobster, oysters, smoked salmon, truffle, caviar, or an expressive, creamy cow’s milk cheese.

POINTS OF INTEREST

The delicate and elegant nose opens up to candied fruit (citrus, apricot) and gingerbread. Its woody forest bouquet develops with finesse unveiling a multitude of remarkable aromas. Its attack is mouth-filling, dominated by citrus and offers a lovely freshness and a lasting finish worthy of the best wines.

"Belemnita" Grand Cru

Grand Cru Villages of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger

Chardonnay

With 10 years on the fine lees, this is the Tête de Cuvée for the Gonet family. The intensity of this wine is expressed on both the nose and on the palate. With aromas of honeycomb, grilled almond, and toasted bread, the palate reveals the terroir with deep sapidity and a minerality dominated by dried citrus. A longer and lingering finish rivals any of the top cuvees from the most noble houses.

POINTS OF INTEREST

When making a wine with nature you have to be patient and hope your vineyard survives. The "Les Hauts Jardins" vineyard is a true success story. Planted in 1929, it predates clonal selection, propagated through selection massale. Over the years dead vines were replaced through layering from the neighboring plant so many of the vines are own-rooted and stem from the original mother plant. Less than 3000 bottles produced. A one-of-a-kind experience.
