LE MORETTE
Peschiera del Garda VR, Italy (Veneto)
Lugana "Mandolara"
Lugana DOC
Turbiana
As part of the Verdicchio grape family, this local grape is called Turbiana and it is unique to the southern shore of Italy's largest lake, lake Garda. This unoaked wine has a full-bodied texture, not unlike Chardonnay, but with aromas and a finish that are markedly distinct. On the nose there are white flowers, citrus, and pear, with a classic finish reminiscent of almond. The mid-palate is always fresh, with a lively acidity to counter the weight and texture.
POINTS OF INTEREST

Lugana "Benedictus"
Lugana DOC
Turbiana
From a single parcel of 40+ year old vines, this wine is truly a "blessing" as the name implies. Partially aged in French oak barrels, the hint of oak adds to the rich layers and texture of this wine. An elevated example of the coveted local grape, Turbiana, it is grown within the small DOC of Lugana. A richer style than the “Mandolara” with white flowers, complex orchard fruits, and a hint of vanilla. A later harvest and barrel aging help to develop more texture and length in the finish.
POINTS OF INTEREST
The story of Fabio and his brother Paolo Zenato is linked to the history and land of their area. Their property includes a small lake, Lago del Frassino, home to many rare water birds, and for these reason no chemicals are used in the vineyards to protect the ecosystem. Research at the family's vine nursery has lead to the registration of more than 10 different clones of the Turbiana grape. Historically misidentified as part of the Trebbiano grape family, Turbiana is closely related to Verdicchio.
