Pecorino

Terre di Chieti IGP

Pecorino

Yes, the Pecorino grape gets its name from sheep, just like the cheese, but the similarities stop there. From the rocky hillsides around Chieti comes a Pecorino that is packed full of flavor and fruit. Vibrant aromas of fresh cut flowers abound with citrus, stone, and tropical fruits. Great texture and density are perfectly balanced by acidity and structure. A subtle, tart flavor of rhubarb adds to a bright and lingering finish.

POINTS OF INTEREST

The Pecorino grape was facing extinction in the 80s and 90s. Today there has been a renaissance in the Abruzzo hills with many local produces championing this exciting native grape. Because of the low yields it fell out of fashion in the industrial age of farming, but now producers appreciate these low, concentrated yields that can produce an exception wine, full of flavor. The Bove family estate crafts an exception example.

Marso

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOP

Montepulciano

This is the pride of the Bove family estate in Avezzano, established in 1930. One of the oldest family-run wineries in Abruzzo, the best parcels are carefully hand-selected for this top cuvee from the estate. The flavors are rich and intense with a dense ruby red color, with purple hues. Powerful aromatics with ripe blackberry, cassis, violet, spice, and balsamic. The palate is lush and full with fine tannins and great structure.

POINTS OF INTEREST

When it comes to value and true authentic Italian character, few grapes stand out like the Montepulciano grape from Abruzzo. The second most widely cultivated red grape in Italy, it goes perfectly with the comfort foods of Italy; pizza, pasta, and roasted meats. Aged in a combination of concrete and small barrique barrels for 14 months, the wine is then allowed to rest in bottle until the wine is drinking at its best.
