The name Saint Amour, imparts a romantic air to these wines. It can be difficult to find many options for this coveted Cru outside of France. This Saint Amour has refined aromatics with notes of red cherry skin, flowers of peony and rose, and a savory touch of leather and balsamic. The palate is supple with good length and tension striking balance between acidity, thin tannins, and pleasurable drinkability.
POINTS OF INTEREST
With 12 hectares of very old vines averaging between 60 to 100 years old on the estate, 3 of these hectares come from the most northerly Cru of Saint Amour. The first certified biodynamic and organic winery in the area, Ecocert (2007) and Demeter (2015), Alexandra de Vazeilles runs the Bachelards estate with the mindset of making the finest wines, to be compared to the great houses of Burgundy and the northern Rhône.

The largest production of the estate with about 800 cases, it is here at the winery in Fleurie where the ancient monks began this project nine centuries ago. A wine of great sophistication, the nose is intense with wild berry fruits, black earth, pepper, and violet flowers. On the palate there is great finesse with a minerality of graphite, a firm texture, and an expressive finish with fine tannin. Enjoy now or for 20+ years.
POINTS OF INTEREST
This Estate, benefits from a unique heritage of vines with a specific geology based in Fleurie. These vineyard sites were chosen and constructed by the Benedictine monks of Cluny in 1100 AD. This is the most southerly monastic vineyard in Burgundy and for the first 600 years was overseen by the church. There has been only three owners since. This was one of the estates chosen by Napoleon to represent France at the Universal Expedition in the 1800s.

Moulin-à-Vent is known for a more powerful and structured Beaujolais, and this wine will not disappoint that notion. On the nose there are brooding black cherry fruits, black pepper, top soil, and violet flowers. On the palate, the tannins are relaxed but the concentration and depth is clear. The nuanced finish is both broad, friendly, and refreshing. The fullest of the three wines, the fruit is dense but not jammy.
POINTS OF INTEREST
The terroir of Moulin-à-Vent is a blend of several plots located on very old, fine-grained, schist and black granite rock. Along with clay particles that impart strength and power, the wine is thankfully balanced by the limestone which brings freshness and tension. Alexandra makes these wines with ever consideration for terroir; organic and biodynamic farming, native yeast, and no winemaker tricks like carbonic maceration.
